BarryKeymasterThey all sound like issues. No GuitarPCB products are released “just how it is”.
I play and record demos with every product without needing any kind of noise reduction. I also use an isolated power supply to power all of my pedals so noise cannot make it downstream and get amplified.
Power wires should never be parallel with audio wires. Make sure at worst they are like this (+) but never this (II).
Wire dressing is always important in Audio applications.
Did you try the battery test yet?
Did you make sure there were no errant strands of wire shorting against the enclosure?
Did you try re-flowing all on-board and off-board joints as part of a standard troubleshoot?
BarryKeymasterHi, It is just a lot better to have photos than to try imagining any number of scenarios.
Since something is not right we have to find out what it is.
Today is extraordinarily busy for me so I don’t have time now to look this over thoroughly.
As part of normal troubleshooting here is what I would do:
- Test the pedal by itself with battery power (solder battery strap to 2.1mm jack) batteries cannot introduce noise.
- Re-flow solder joints on and off-board. Make sure you have firm connections (especially regarding ground)
- Be careful re-flowing at transistors and IC chips since sockets were not used. (heat sensitive)
- Make sure wire strands or solder lugs at potentiometers are not shorting to enclosure.
Maybe someone else can look this over to see anything important as I have a ton of sale orders to pack.
BarryKeymasterWe will need several clear well lit photos of the front of the board, back of the board and off-board wiring to help.
Also was this a kit?

BarryKeymasterThis is definitely not right.
Re-flow and give us voltages on all transistors.
BarryKeymasterI uploaded a new Build Document and made clarifications. I also added some other information
I hope it will help.
Make sure you refresh when downloading it since you will probably have a cached version in your browser.
Here is a photo from a different SWAH v4 build that works you can use for reference to compare:

Sofnwhat used a Buff N Blend in his build but that would not matter as far as the board itself.
It is from this thread: https://guitarpcb.com/forums/topic/gpcb-mowah-and-swah/
One thing to consider is check the Datasheet for the IC3 after verifying your part and make sure the pins match.
The board silkscreen is marked correctly but I know some have the opposite pinout so be 100% on it.
BarryKeymasterP3 Decay is a 1M Rev Log C Taper.
P2 Sensitivity is a 100K B Taper.
These tapers are based on USA/Asia Manufacturer Tapers and not European if that helps.
BarryKeymasterJacks are not always the same but the Sleeve aka Ground is always the center.
Switch the wires at the JACK so you do not ruin any pads.

BarryKeymasterThe Input side of your wiring is not correct.
Switch the two wires marked with arrows at the the Input Jack.

Thanks for providing photos to spot the error.
I hope that helps.
If you need additional help please start a new thread as this thread is marked solved.
BarryKeymaster@ Ccow – Those amps haven’t moved in many years and they have brought me greater pleasure in the last 11 years than all the years playing clubs combined for multiple reasons. One of the reasons not apparent in this thread thus far is the “other room” where my kids and I play.
@ BackonTrack – My amps natural tone is always part of my sound (clean or dirty) and there is no mistaking my base tones. Gear has changed slightly over the years with much collected when my kids were young and I had a “real job” before starting GuitarPCB. ( I jest because I took a lot of flack for going full-time GuitarPCB) That said the last 12 years have been the most rewarding for me doing a Job I love, raising my kids on my own and I never have to play “House of the Rising Sun” again.

You will note the Peavey “lunch box” tube head that sounds amazing operating at 20/5/1 at probably 15 pounds.
There is a solid state Ampeg below that for Bass. I have two small solid state practice amps as well.
I use these amps as well for testing circuits, teaching, setting up guitars for customers and making demos.
If I ever did play out again (doubt it) I would have plenty of kids willing to carry my tube amps.
My daughter Paige jamming some Jimmy Page.

BarryKeymasterHmmm.. tough crowd.
BarryKeymasterWell Billy when I got it hooked up to the ole’ “Knob and Tube” it can get pretty noisy.

.. but then I just unplug the TV and Air Conditioner and turn everything to 11 and it goes away.
kidding of course… actually it is all pretty good and good enough for recording.
BarryKeymasterAwesome Chuck I love doing pedals in Tandem. I mean it is like my thing.
If you want to try some fun tandem ideas place different pedals or circuits in the Paramix loop and try using them in tandem without one affecting the other for a whole different experience.
BarryKeymasterExcellent job Brooks and thank you for sharing with us.
BarryKeymasterWell done David and thanks for sharing!
BarryKeymasterYah this was a mod we were looking to introduce but never verified yet so it is lying dormant for the meantime.
Nice puppy!

BarryKeymasterI see what is going on there and it is a great solution. I don’t think it is limited to ultra-heavy tones either.
