@ Cybercow. His orientation is correct if he had used on-board potentiometers.

We have since updated the PUFF v5 2021 board to make good use of space.

The Lug Number (1) for the potentiometer Lug is silk-screened on the back side to be certain.

You will get a lot more response if you post clear pictures so we can see what is wrong with your build 😉

You do not have a current limiting resistor CLR in the 3PDT wiring board which is the board you are trying to run the LED from. You must use a resistor value of 1k8 to 4k7. The only reason to put a CLR resistor in the main board is if you are running the LED from that board.

    That should probably do it.

    That is so awesome!

Well done and thanks for sharing.

I love that you added the Mods to the MKC. That makes it so much better!

It is so rewarding to DIY and your candy wrappers look fantastic.

My thought is regarding the Germanium Diode.

Is that a Russian Diode? If so the stripe is likely the Anode and not the cathode.Your current orientation in the photo shows it being placed in the board as if the stripe is Cathode same as the board silkscreen.

The other thing regarding the diode is that it needs to have a forward voltage of .27 to .37 for it to make the SWAH work (see schematic). Unfortunately Germanium diodes from different manufacturers are all over the place regarding forward voltage. That is why I list the ones I sell in the shop with those numbers.

Thanks Billy for testing all of that for me. I will add the resistance to the new circuit board and I will experiment but I will likely go with the A250k for a Pot value for the Gain control. I can also make this information available in the old build document as well. That way we don’t just have a Gain monster (stock) that goes from 10 to 11 only.

In your opinion using the A250k Billy did you still have plenty of that heavy duty Gain tone if needed?

He is referring to the power wiring running in parallel with the audio wiring which I can see in the picture above.

So the capacitors and resistors by value all check out.

I am not sure how much of this is subjective since the BMP opamp version is not really thought of as a bright circuit. There are two individual tones in this video demo, listen to both.

Be sure to test this circuit by itself and not hooked up to anything else. Just two good cables, guitar and amp. Nothing else.

If there is something obviously off to you at a listen however I would re-flow the whole thing to make sure you do not have a cold solder joint. Especially around the tone section of the schematic. Secondly carefully revisit the TONE pads for the potentiometer. I know some of what I see is flux but I would have another strong look there to be sure that not only you have a good connection but that nothing is bridging on either side. Be careful not to overheat those pads.

    Good luck.

Those are text book voltage readings. Thank you.

I will look over the rest of the build asap.

@mybud Yes that is all GuitarPCB in a rack-mount design and interestingly is being used in a studio in LA for an upcoming DC movie this July.

I do have many transistors available.

Agreed it is hard to see but I think I have it.
Try switching the wiring at the Jacks as shown in the photo below.
I think you have your audio and ground wiring mixed up.
Switch the red arrow wires with each other and then do the same to the green arrow wiring.
I hope that makes sense but if not just ask.

So I use the D’Lay circuit for all of my 70’s Rock God style guitar solos. I also use the Warmouth Mod on a footswitch which is setup for a quick Tommy Bolin style runway away repeat. Anytime you hear a long delay in a product demo of mine it is always the D’Lay! It is funny because I have tried so many of those expensive delay pedals and I have not kept one of them except for the MXR. I set the MXR for big tone slapback and I use the D’Lay for all the long stuff.

Here is a jam with my kids most people don’t see. All the big echo you hear at 2:19 to the end is the D’Lay.

This is just a single room SM57 straight into the iPad so nothing fancy.

I think the D’Lay is a most versatile, fantastic sounding circuit. This just adds a whole extra bunch of goodness!

    Thanks Jimi!

I know of no reason why not.

Obviously you will need to work with with levels.

Yes, and I thank you sincerely Jon.

If you think the SWAH is sick wait till you check out the new D’Lay.

    or the new Sunn-T

Yah the idea was to have some samples all together despite being able to check them all out on YouTube I doubt anyone actually does except maybe when shopping in our store. So I just added a few more. I will see what else i want to add. I am actually surprised with how many tuneful variants I have so far.
