BarryKeymasterMartin the SWAH should work fine with a standard Bass. However that is not always the case anymore. You could change C1 to 68n so this will match the coupling capacitor at C7 and will allow more instrument frequencies through. Furthermore you could build the pedal using our Buff N Blend circuit and Blend in as much full signal as you need. This can also be done with any guitar pedal circuits using our ParaMix.
BarryKeymasterIf you look at the schematic on the old version it shows our current values as well.
These are actually the original values.
The 2 changes were to put C1 and C2 back to their originally prescribed values.
Here is the short or long of it:
C1 and C2 forms a low pass filter in order to reduce the unwanted hi-frequencies. Lowering the values of C1 and C2 will allow more high harmonics to go through the chip and therefore a “more natural sound”, of course, the drawback would be more digital noise into the signal.
Using 100nF on C1/C2 makes the delayed signal harmonics above 1kHz to be attenuated, it is not catastrophic as the natural sound of a delayed/echoed signal has intrinsically less high content. A good middle ground value to allow more harmonics and less HF noise into the circuit would be 68nF.
I no longer feel comfortable going with 220n so hence the change back. You could socket one of those boards for comparison to see what you think.
I have heard of no issues using that regulator for both.
BarryKeymasterDevils advocate says maybe ask Buddy to see if he would not mind having any number of pedals with blend without modding the commercial pedal. It’s just a thought.
BarryKeymasterI do not know what the inside of that looks like.
Have you considered a Paramix on your pedal board so then you can run any number of pedals through it at any given time. This is what I do. If you ever want to swap out pedals from the loop it is a flick of the switch to adjust for phase. Admittedly it takes some pedal board real estate but it is so dang useful and versatile.
BarryKeymasterThat is very nice! Thank you for sharing.
BarryKeymasterChanger R5 to something between 100k to 220k and let me know how that works out.
Thanks,
BarryKeymasterI would not have considered that but it seems like a great idea!
I would try reversing the order of effects to see how that reacts.
Thank you for sharing.
BarryKeymasterA visual representation of why I like LEDS or an LED in the mix.
That is excellent and thank you for taking the time to post.
BarryKeymasterSomething is no longer connected.
You will have to pull it and examine all wiring but start with just the In and Out wiring that leads to the In and Out jacks.
Reflow and make sure you have a solid connection to a good solder joint. Check both onboard and off board wiring.
Be sure to also check for any shorts such as what happens when both cables are plugged in and see what is mechanically happening inside (for example make sure the tip of the guitar jack is not bumping up against IC pins). While you are at triple check your cables.
BarryKeymasterExcellent Job and thanks for posting.

BarryKeymasterThe SWAH Build Document has been updated to have a 47k at R17. No Mods.
Thank you for taking the time to do some testing for me. That is an excellent report on your findings.

BarryKeymasterYou can absolutely apply clear coat.
The point of the video was to show folks how to do quality art on their pedals (instead of the “sharpie” method) without using clear coat because many people cannot spray in their apartment or may not be able to spray due to weather. If you can clear coat then that will provide better protection although I would probably stick to water-slide decals in that case? I have never clear coated photograph paper though I imagine it is fine.
BarryKeymasterLove it and I am very glad you love it!
We did not set out to do just another Klon clone with this. Of course you can do everything you would be able to with the standard build but having this versatility to be able to use with any guitar or amp (mixing Clean and Drive) and getting great tones with all is what we were going for. Tonmann was the genius behind the design and thanks to a wrong value resistor I stumbled on the Ultra Drive mod. It is much better to make that a potentiometer but I did not want to scare people away with too many potentiometers so it became a switch.
Thanks for posting.
BarryKeymasterYah Ray I am definitely feeling you but the original “JHSss” had it at 10k and 22n. Unless someone made an error of course.
We did not like that so we changed it to 6k8 wayyy back when.
I did some poking around and it seems the 6k8 / 22n is now the standard among others in the DIY world.
I am of course interested in hearing about the effects of modding but I would also be interested in verifying his build as well.
BarryKeymasterJust as a note we did change the resistor value from the “original” circuit from 10k to 6k8 already so I would be sure you are not modding something that actually needs a fix.
