JED – it looks to me like it may have originally stemmed from an old SD-1 pedal circuit. Maybe Barry has a the correct answer or can confirm my best guess.

Wilkie, Barry – Thanks for the kudos. Always happy to share. I’m rather excited about the photo-journaling I’m doing for the Animal\SS-02 combo build I’m working on. There are so many measurements to get dead-on to get it all into 1590BB enclosure and with the all the daughter-boards & graphics, it’s taking a lot longer than I anticipated because . . . .  Oh! Look! Another build I want to do! Durn squirrels are everywhere. LOL!

brako – if you recall from my original post, I did not select any single specific model build from the BOM that came with the Muff’N PCB. Rather, I selected (calculated) averages of specifically selected resistors and capacitors, I wanted in my build to swing more towards the middle of the ranges for each particular resistor and capacitor pairing and was constantly referring back-and-forth between the original schematic, the BOM and all the other schematics I could find and print for the various versions of the Muff that are out there. I relied heavily upon the analysis article from ElectroSmash ( https://www.electrosmash.com/big-muff-pi-analysis ) to get a better understanding of how each section functioned and what each section was designed to do.

If you want to build two distinct BMPs, each with the ability to mimic the range of BMP variants you’ve listed, you will need to analyze those variants for each of your builds and determine (calculate) the slight changes you will need to achieve those variants in each your builds. It is a lot of work and time involved in the analysis of each group of BMP variants, but it is doable if you proceed with organization and methodology.

In your shoes, I would take the list of components from the Muff’N BOM for the Green\Black Russian, Violet Ram and the Civil War and compare their respective resistor\cap value differences. There are only a small number of resistor and cap value changes between them.

For the Foxy Lady, Creamy Dreamer, Ram’s Head and Triangle combo, you will need to do the same thing, but in those individual builds, you will note that there are some fairly significant value changes between certain resistors and caps.

So in my estimation, if you want four genuinely distinct builds in each of your two builds, you may need to derive a means of creatively combining more switches, or maybe even a larger pole & throw count multi-switch to make it easier to go back and forth between the individual builds within each or your enclosures.

Remember, I used “averaging” across all 10 builds from the BOM and during my initial testing, I could not distinguish ANY difference between certain of the BMP variants because the component value changes were so small – which is why I went with “averaging” certain component values rather than trying to use exact\distinct values to switch between.

I hope I have been clear in my explanation. When you start your build(s) and have questions regarding it\them, please start a new thread in the Support section of the forum. Good luck!

Ratistuta – I’m still in the middle of a G-02 Animal build and with the help of Barry’s build document for that build, I was able to suss out that the G-02 Animal is basically a modified BMP with a buffer and nearly identical to the Muff’N build, just without the buffer.  I found a great analysis of the BMP on ElectroSmash and it really helped get better grasp of what the BMP, G-02 Animal and all the variants of the BMP consist.

When I built  one of Barry’s Muff’N builds, I kinda went over the top with modifications. Instead of selecting just one of the specific BMP’s to go for, I took it upon my self to do some value averaging for certain of the resistors and caps to find the build that would provide the most number of options sonically. I also took advantage of Barry’s Muff’N Mods document and incorporated every one them into my first Muff’N build. With all the options on board and the value fiddling I exercised, my “Klingon Muff” can achieve the sonic value of about 10 of the BMP variants.

Barry – I was completely unaware of the “P2”. Thank you for the continuing education.

Barry, Wilkie, Scott, Pat – thanks for the feedback. I like the first photo best as well and am going with that one. I’m also changing the font to something a bit appealing for the image; along with some other tweaks. And I have both a 4P2T easy-order switch and an easy-order switch PCB on hand in case I decide going back and forth between primary & secondary circuits. I might need to alter my wardrobe and get some pointed shoes so I can better aim these fat feet of mine. This build might turn out more expensive than I initially anticipated.

I decided to go with the landscape orientation of the BB enclosure to increase the distance between the stompswitches. (I have fat feet.) Both boards (Angry Red Camel and the Emerald Ring are populated, pot & jack wiring is next, now I just need to decide on which ‘critter’ to use for the waterslide decal on the enclosure. I’m leaning towards the first. And I’ll reserve “cute” for the Klon circuit I’m building. Any thoughts, suggestions are welcome.
