Sasan – with the appropriate On-On-On toggle switch, the wiring diagram shown on pages 2 & 3 of the Sunn-T build document demonstrates the connection setting so “center” is engaging both the “brite” and the “normal” channels. When I built my Sunn-T, I followed that diagram and “both” is in the ‘center’ position of the On-On-On toggle switch.

My MoRC (“Compressor”) is my go-to comp pedal. I like your mods as considerations for another build. Thanks for sharing your excursion.

While I don’t have an immediate need for any FETs, I still ordered a couple sets yesterday when I saw the offering. “Just in case”. 😉

Best implementation of the SMD-to-TO92 solution I’ve seen yet. Thanks Barry!

Thanks folks. I appreciate the feedback and questions.

Wilkie – Keeping the wiring neat and just long enough for routing and still being able to reverse-Tetris the guts out for troubleshooting is a challenge. I rally like avoiding the need to unsolder anything in a build if I have to troubleshoot it and\or do any repairs or mods. Admittedly, it is not easy.

Matt – yes, the FF feeds the Black Dog. The LED daughterboard is just a bit of vero that I cut to the size as shown in the photo to handle the repositioning of the bi-color LEDS beneath the eyes of the dog.

Billy – yes, bi-color LEDS beneath the eyes of the dog on the vero daughterboard.

Barry – in all honesty, it is the leg-up you provide with such great PCB projects on which to build the pedals you inspire. Thanks for the kind words.

I still haven’t heard my own Black Dog build. Guess I need to get back on the bench and finish wiring it up. Looking forward to hearing it. Hope it turns out as nice as yours.

Where did you find the 3-hole LED mounting base? I’ve not been able to locate the 3-hole insulation bases for LED mounts.

I’ve had to use a shoehorn and sledgehammer to stuff enclosures before too. Get looking build for a versatile pedal.

Matt – it may depend on the format of the video. What format (file extension) is it? On what device did you shoot the video please?

Love the homage to Pinky & the Brain for the Rat thang. Pretty cool. Any video demo?

Nice looking build. BTW – what is a “GBD”? (I’m terrible with acronyms.)

Nicely done. Interesting clipping diodes. Would you mind elaborating? (NOS 1N34A ????)

Barry – thanks for the detailed response. I’ll be watching that video this weekend. Good info.

I tried doing that simple buffer circuit, (as mentioned in the previous response), and it certainly made the pedal louder. I’m not sure by how many db, but audibly louder with no additional distortion, it seems to be a nice clean boost. Not sure the mod is needed or if I’ll keep it in my final build, but it is certainly noteworthy. Any and all comments welcome.

Florian – I finished the circuit portion of the Sunn-T build and tested it with all the stock components. It sounds great!

Then I went back in and tacked a 300K Ω resistor to R1 & R2 in parallel to drop those to the 56K Ω value and tacked a 33K Ω across R4 & R8 to bring them to 560 Ω. After firing it up and giving a careful listen, I was pleased at slight, yet noticeable change. This mod seems to allow the settings to get into the “break-up” zone at somewhat lower settings. I don’t have a scope and could not measure headroom, but I’ve decided I will keep the mod as I like getting into the distortion zone earlier in the Normal & Brite Gain settings.

And, I have no recollection from where I found the suggestion for this, but I’m going to drop a simple buffer between pin #2 of the treble control and pin #3 of the Master volume control. I’m thinking the 100nF cap is not needed, but I’m going to start there anyway. (The buffer circuit is shown in the attached photo.)

If anyone knows from where this mod came, please speak up and let me (us) know. I’ll report back after I test this addition.
