    Hello,

I have built a Ratt Deluxe pedal, but it is not working. I wonder if anyone can help. Here are some photos.

The pedal has power, the LED lights up green (bypass) or red (on) when I press the switch, which the instructions say is correct. When in bypass mode, I get sound through the amp as expected. When the pedal is on the LED turns red, but I get no sound at all.

Can anyone see what is wrong?

    Thank you!

    What is going on here?

Thank you so much for pointing that out, Barry. I must have done that when diassembling it for the photos because it’s right in the earlier photos.

I have repaired that now but I have the same situation as before. When in bypass (led is red) the guitar is heard through the amp, but when turned on (led is green) there’s no sound.

Have I done something wrong with the switch, perhaps? Does it matter which way the switch is oriented?

Switch orientation is fine as long as it fits in the wiring board.

This is too hard for me to see. Verify orientation of LED.

If that is not it then proceed to re-flow any suspect solder joints on or off board. Make sure all wire connections are secure.

If that does not help we will need voltages of IC all 8 pins and Transistor. Measure your source voltage as well to be certain it reads at least 9v. Check it at the Board 9v and ground pads. When reporting IC voltages the Pin Numbers read in order of the letter U starting with #1 at top left and finishing with #8 at top right.

Ok, I’ve figured it out. I had the wire going from the switch PCB to the main board’s ground in the 9V hole when it needed to be in the adjacent “G” hole instead.

The wiring instructions on the site are from 2017 I believe it is, and the illustration shows the wiring the way I had it, which won’t work with the switch PCB I was sent. It might be useful to update the illustration in that document.

In any case the pedal now switches on and works appropriately. Thanks for your assistance Barry.

I am glad you sorted it out.

Unfortunately I missed that in the photos. The 3PDT Board Build Document is on the Guides Page.

It explains the labeling on the wiring board, the difference between v4 and v5, LED mounting and pretty much everything else.

I am updating all old build documents but it takes time and about 90% updated. I will get the Ratt next.

Once you learn to wire one it is the same for all. Enjoy!

    @Liolis

    I removed the cheeky comment.

In the future I wouldn’t tag on the end of an old “solved” post. It may have been overlooked.

Someone is here everyday. That v2 version was a long time ago.

We do have two Databases (old & new) on the Guides Page. I just forgot to add that one.

    Here it is:
