The Paramix circuit is a virtual Swiss army knife in a pedal. If you think outside the box, the possible uses really stack up. I’ll list some of the uses I’ve tried and as always, I’m looking for some ideas I haven’t tried yet, so jump in with your thoughts or suggestions.

Barry has already given several great ideas for using the Paramix in another post. I’m going to copy them here rather than using a link.

    • Running 2 delays at the same time without one affecting the other. One set for slapback, the other in full guitar hero mode, both going simultaneously without creating a delayed mess.
    • Or run a transparent drive in parallel with a sputtering fuzz. The drive stays clear and the fuzz sputters away on top of it, neither one stepping on the other. Makes for a more rounded, exotic tone.
    • This one is a favorite. Run two drives in parallel and split the job between them. One drive dialed in with some Edge and tight on the bottom end, that one is your foundation. The other path is a fuzz with the bass rolled off, so it is only putting out top end. Because they run side by side, the fuzz never muddies the low end, and the tight drive never tames the fuzz. What comes out is a full natural drive tone with a wild screaming top end riding over it. Natural and wild at the same time.
    • Now run that same split setup on bass guitar. A clean, powerful, full range tone with a tight bottom end, and in tandem a driven top end with the bass rolled off, and you have Chris Squire in a box.

There are several great pedals that use a clean signal and blend knob in their circuit. One example is the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive, which is an 808 Tube Screamer with a clean blend. Another obscure but well reviewed example is the Cornerstone Gladio SC, here again the clean blend helps add more dimension to the sound. There are also many compressors that do the same thing, just adding a little clean can really enhance your sound. These are all easy to replicate with a Paramix.

Other great uses for the Paramix are covered in the build doc like a Wet Dry amplifier rig. You can even work up a wet-dry-wet rig with 2 Paramix circuits.

What other ideas are out there?

I have 2x PM boards inbound, with a few ideas regarding implementation.

one is fairly typical, I suppose, parallel drives.

the other, perhaps a bit more strange:

I have a MFOS Guitar SubCommander board as well as a MadBean Wolfshirt (Tycho Octavia,) that I wish to run parallel with a clean signal.  Somehow, I am also considering use of a Ring Mod for additional oddity.

I am not 100% sure how this will sound, but I’m gonna send it..
