I’ve been trying to figure out how to shape my tone better, and AmpEQ is one of those things that just clicked for me. It’s basically an active EQ preamp that lets you tweak your sound without killing the feel of your guitar signal. There’s up to +26 dB of clean boost(according to the build document). The bass and treble controls actually go both ways, meaning they boost *and* cut—which is pretty awesome!
Whether I’m just adding a little volume or trying to dial in a better EQ curve, it keeps my guitar, pedals, and amp sounding like themselves instead of turning everything into mush. The active EQ part has been especially helpful. My Tele can get a bit thin and bright, so I can warm it up a little. On darker guitars (Les Paul and hollow body) the low end sometimes gets muddy, and this helps tighten that up. In my opinion, another great offering in the NostalgiTone series!!
