I don’t know if there is a length issue or a # of pictures issue, but this is the 4th time I tried to post this – lol  Adding the pictures i left out, below

Thanks guys!  It is killer…I may need to make one for myself.

While I have never used a RAT, so I have no ability to comment on its similarities, I can get this to sound nearly identical to my Dual Super Lead amplifier, from Crunch to Ultra 2.  Yes, it is higher gain. Yes, if you want a classic rock sound get the PlexiPlus, or the KOTB, or the BluesBuster….they all sound great, but it is definitely inspired by the super lead, IMHO.

Well done, sir!  We have whole TEAMS at my job that handle SEO.  You do wear many hats, but mine is off to you!

Man, this is great.  So many good ideas here!  I personally love the flipping of the stage 3 board to achieve the correct orientation while putting the board where you wanted it. Nicely done!!

Michael, since you have all the transistors socketed, you could always see what happens when you swap the transistor sets between the two builds.  You will then at least know if your issue is with the transistor tolerances/biasing.  While I don’t have nearly the expertise as these other gentlemen, I have noticed that even when using the same type of transistors in two builds of the same circuit, I may need to bias each differently to attain a passably equal sound. Good luck!

Small bear sells a full featured meter that you can plug transistors into and measure the HFe.  I have noticed a drastic difference between those I’ve bought here and those bought elsewhere, and even drastic differences within a single lot.  I’ve transitioned to almost exclusively buying Qs from Barry..and testing every other one I get.  Glad you got it working, and you are right – these guys are great!

Sigh….The Obsessive Distortion Deluxe has three controls Output, Contour, & Distortion, the Boost switch mod and a 6 way diode selector, to fine tune the edges of the clipping.

If you are using the old TO-92 style thru-hole components, as it looks like the OP has, the tolerances of those parts is highly suspect these days unfortunately.  I have found that sometimes I need to stray greatly from the recommended biases, based on the sounds of the particular transistors.  I got the advanced meter from small bear which allows you to test the transistors, and that helps a bit, but sometimes you need to increase the drain quite a bit to reduce the gain pushing through the circuit.

Nice work, and I appreciate the build photos!  I am planning one of my own and I now KNOW that I cannot do top mount jacks with what I am planning, so – Thanks Garret!  I love the overall look and those knobs!  Very cool

Oh yea! Stuffed like a turkey!  That didn’t take you long.  I have had a build or two that squealed hen everything is cranked – I re-biased the Qs by ear to tone it down a bit and the squeal was eliminated.  Same thing goes for the Stage3, depending on your Q, it may be slightly different.  I personally love to try different biases to see where the sweet spot is for the particular Qs in the build.  Well done!

This looks awesome, I don’t know what you are talking about. I am sure it sounds killer on top of that!  Love the combination of Marshalls and I also like to use a footswitch for the afterblaster and replace the trimpot with a regular pot to adjust the volume for a solo boost.  Nicely done man!

Nicely done, I may try that depth mod for sure.  And I think we can agree we all like a tight bottom. :-p

Nicely done!  Love the rate shift switch and the roto-tone, but I can’t say enough how much I love the Buff’nBlend. Looks great, bet it sounds killer!

Hey @LegoZombie thanks for reaching out. I love the idea, and actually, if you use both the Plexi Volume knob AND the ToneTwEQ Volume knobs along with the order switching, your ToneTwEQ can actually double as your boost (before or after), as it has plenty of output to spare.  Placing the boost before the Plexi will give you more gain, while placing it after will give you a clean boost.  I have used the ToneTwEQ as a standalone Boost with a three band active EQ and it is excellent.  Hope this helps, I am looking forward to seeing this when it is completed!
