While I’m still waiting on the 4PDT to arrive, I just had a thought.  Is it possible to add in another order switching board to control which effect the external FX loop comes after?  Or am I crazy?  (And yes, this is still keeping me up at night and I think I won’t be able to stop thinking about it until the 4PDT arrives and I can actually test it out ????)

If you look closely, the wiring diagram I provided on 3/10 at 9:58PM does exactly that.  It moves the position of the external effects loop from following effect #1 to following effect #2 and visa versa.

Wilkie – I have to admit that the more I look at the cleverness of your switch hack, the more elegant it appears. Truly an excellent solution!

Ok, just got the 4PDT toggle switch in the mail.  Been staring at it for a little bit and finally realized I have no idea where wiring for all the inputs and outputs are supposed to go.  I drew how everything are placed in the enclosure, can you point me to where the wires should go?  Once again, can’t thank you enough!

I’m rather busy at the moment.  It is St. Patrick’s Day!  Give me a day to draw up something for you.

This should help you.  Note I did not include ground wiring.  The diagram was cluttered enough without them.

Excellent work Wilkie! Do you ever sleep?

These sorts of switching conundrums tend to bust my brain. I usually have to redraw them by hand to understand precisely what they’re doing. So, I have to ask . . . . . (cuz I’m kinda too covered up to draw it out and sort it) . . . .

Is a stompswitch still required in the Easy Ordering PCB? From what I know of the Easy Order board, nothing happens without a switch of some sort. So, it takes two stomps to keep the FX loop in between the two effects?

Corectomundo Cybercow!  The Easy Order Board still requires a switch (either stomp or toggle.  There are two versions.)  The additional 4PDT switch only moves the external effects loop position.  You can have the loop between the two effects or after the last effect.  More versatility.

I am waiting to hear from Blackcatchicago to see if this meets his needs and works as he expected.

I’ve been reviewing the diagram and I think this is exactly what I had in mind.  Wilkie, can’t thank you enough for solving this mystery!  Unfortunately, my regular 9 to 5 has been occupying most of my time, so I won’t be able to test this out until this coming weekend.  Can’t wait until I can put this to test and let everyone know how it turns out.  I’ll for sure be posting my updates!

Wilkie – thanks for the clarification and productive efforts on your part. That entire concept may be something Barry might add to his arsenal of Utility PCBs.

At long last, finally was able to find time over the weekend to complete this build.  So this is not the Tube Screaming MKC I initially intended on building.  This is a Fuzz/Drive combo pedal with non-GPCB boards (sorry Barry) I had already started working on and thought I would try adding the effect loop in between.  Thanks to Wilkie, it came to live!  I’ve tried putting a wah pedal in between, and I was able to get a really good wah sound with both effects.  The only issue I’ve encountered is that in certain order, the fuzz will generate a high pitch squeal, I’m guessing it’s feedback from signals crossing each other.  But other than that, it’s working as I had imagined!

Here’s a couple of pics.  Please excuse the poor quality of the decal on the enclosure, the printing didn’t come out as dark as I thought it would.

Thanks again to Wilkie for all the help!

Thanks for validating the switch wiring you requested.  Happy to hear the pedal works!
