Hello all. I am new to the forum in Australia. Although building electronics for years, only new to pedals.
I would love some assistance/guidance. I have purchase the Muff’n, (I believe it is the Green Russian?), Tone TwEQ and Buffin-Blend from the Aust. Distributor. I am in the process of trying to wire them together. I like the idea of having it so I can use both the Muff’n controls and Tone EQ. So do I just follow the Example 2, wiring the two boards in Series? If not, how do I go about it as the instructions I have downloaded a little confusing? I am also wondering where in the chain the Buff’nBlend would go.
Sorry if these questions seem silly, but still learning the pedal stuff. Would greatly appreciate assistance/help.

BarryKeymasterThere is more than one way to wire. It depends on what you want.
Experience with working with pedals would help tremendously to determine what you want.
You may wire them in series as the guides show you.
The Buff N Blend is wired as the Build document shows and covers the bypass foot switch. Instead of placing just one circuit between the send and return you would simply be putting two circuits in series between the send and return.
My advice would be to build the Muff’n and Tone TwEQ separately and test each one first to verify both are working properly before trying to put them together in series in the Buff N Blend loop or you could have an impossible mess to figure out if it all does not work the first time.

Well Basically, my intention from the start was to be able to utalize all the features of the main Muff and use the Tone EQ features as well. I know one or two of the features on the main Muff may not be unusable because of the connection to the Tone eq but I want to try and get as many combinations as posible and just looking to find out how I would achieve this.

What I would like is to have all the options/features. Those of the Muff, the ToneEq and buff. The buff is fairly straight forward, but a little unsure on wiring the two boards and whether I need to leave out any of the pots/switches.
I hope this is a little clearer.

GuestI have built and tested all 3. I have been reading up on this forum and others for the last week before moving ahead. I am now at the point of amalgamating the 3 and trying to work out the best way to achieve this. Although the guides pages are very helpful, I am just trying to confirm the best way.

So if you have not installed the tone section components on the board and plan on inserting the Tone TwEQ in place of the Muff’n tone section then this is fine of course and probably a better choice than wiring each complete circuit separately in series since having two tone sections for the final circuit is kind of redundant and probably counter intuitive.
So if this is what you are doing then you will of course need to insert (wire) the Tone TwEQ into the Muff’n board to bypass all of the Tone components including “Tone Pot” and complete the circuit. Verify your insert positions by using the schematic. Use your DMM continuity feature to verify the correct J3(1) and J4(2) Pads.

If this is your plan but you did install the tone components that would have not been necessary but you can leave them in there since you are bypassing them anyway. I would remove the Tone Pot if installed to get it out of the way.
Then you only have to wire the IN and Outs of the Muff’n to the loop of the Buff N Blend per the build document since the Tone TwEQ is inserted into the Muff’n circuit to replace the Muff’n tone section.
VERIFY and test the Muff’n with the Tone TwEQ inserted before attempting to place the final circuit into the Buff N Blend loop.
If this was not your approach then you will need to be more specific.

GuestThank you. I just thought it was better to have both tone sections going. The image below shows how I wired it. This is in my Instructions I downloaded. It is for the Green Russian board I have.

Where I was a little confused, is if you go to the previous pages on the link, it shows wiring several option switchs that change tones etc. The links to the Tone board actually go in place of one of the switches so obviously I leave that switch out, but I wasnt sure about the others. IE: the two switches at M1. The one at J2, The 3 position switch at SW1. The pot at J1. Not sure I if I leave these out because they will be redundant due to the ToneEq, or will these additional switches/Pot, give extra to the whole build.. Thank you.

GuestReplacing the tone stack with a ToneTwEQ will eliminate the use of the J1 MID SCOOP MOD. However, the ToneTwEQ will permit you to get that same effect by turning the MID frequency pot fully CCW. Or would you say “Anti-clockwise”?
The other mods listed in the build doc can all be utilized with the ToneTwEQ in place.

GuestSUCCESS (Mostly.) I tested it all today minus the blender.. I will wire that in later. Just wanted to verify it worked… My only question is should the Clipping LED’s work? I have fully wound it up and no matter what position the sw 1 is in, they do not light?

ChuckParticipantTony, the clipping LEDs may or may not light up depending on what you used. You can tell if they are working if there is a change in the character of the distortion. Depending on what other diodes you’ve used and what LEDs you’ve used this can be a little difference or a major difference.

GuestJust another quick question if I may? With the blend balance, I am a little unclear on if it is working correctly?
When I have it turned fully clockwise, the Buff & Tone EQ both work as they should however at a very low volume. Turned fully anticlockwise, it seems to not make any difference on the effects. I am guessing this is the Blend part? or am I not correct?
