InactiveHi Everyone. I’ve been mostly away from building for a couple of years due to health issues. But I’m back and for my first build I’ve taken on Add-Verb. I’m having the usual Noob problems and successes with bypass working, LED lights, but no sound other than hissing when the effect is engaged. Replaced the IC1 chip and IC 2. No change. I did some testing with the DMM and am getting 5.05 v at pin 1 of the Brick as noted in the Schematic. Not being much of a schematic reader, that’s about as far as I got with testing.
Re-flowed all visible solder joints but no change. There is one thing to note, when I gently tap the brick, I hear echo, not loud but it’s there. I have an audio probe somewhere and will try that, too.
Need help with where to go with voltage testing. This is what I used to use our dearly departed Petevig for. Shoot him a message and he was on it. Thanks, in advance, forum!.
P.S. I’ll post pics if necessary.

GuestThe audio probe would definitely help. Trace signal through the board in the following sequence: IC1A pin 2>pin1>Brick pin 3>pin 5, pin 6>Reverb pot lug3>IC1B pin 6>pin 7> board OUT. Also check that IC1 has +9V at pin 8 and ground at pin 4. Pics will help to show a wiring issue for pots/switch and jacks.

InactiveThanks Wilkie1. I’ll test this evening and report back.

InactiveSolved! As I suspected, a Noob mistake. It’s important when wiring the In and Out on the board to observe the “T” pads. I swapped the wire on the Board In and the pedal works beautifully.

InactiveHere is the before pic. Besides the wrong wiring, I initially couldn’t get the LED to work on the board, so had a rough go getting it out. Changed it to the 3PDT wiring board and it works like it should. Also not the soldering iron nick on the Cap….I’m rusty!

InactiveAfter pic. I love this pedal. What I want to use it for is an old Pignose amp that has no tremolo or reverb.

BarryKeymasterWell done and thank you for following up!
Be sure to make a Show Off post so others can see and hear what you have to say about it.

InactiveBarry, I plan on that…working on the pedal graphics as we speak. Stand by!

InactiveSo awesome!! I was just about to post about the same thing. Built the ancestral reverb and the one knob fuzz. Both no sound. Wouldnt you know. Missed the T on both pedals.

BillyModeratorGood opportunity to say to everyone that’s why pictures etc are so important with troubleshooting posts we’d have all been swift on the keyboard trying to solve an easy one with an image
Us mods do like being quick solvers haha and as our friend Pete was mentioned I used to enjoy seeing who had the quickest trigger finger alas Pete used to leave me in his wake but it was great fun us both keeping score fond memories indeed
He most certainly was eagle eyed Cap’n legend in my eyes

Inactive+1 Billy. Pictures and voltages. I made a rookie mistake but it worked out anyway.

BillyModeratorHaha not just you James mate I’ve made many…..way too many
It was just a wee chance to mention it once you posted your picture it was obvious but usually never obvious at the time to the builder so you assisted with that clear image
That plus I’d noticed recently a lot of errors are answered in some of the guides and I know having given links to beginners on other forums they’re usually not read the giveaway being when the recipient asks me a question answered in the very PDF link I gave them
With the work we all put in I sometimes think if people read it thier building would be a lot easier, so it was just a gentle reminder to read it and not weep!
I recently built an expensive combo and managed to wire the DC jack in reverse + plug it in fortunately for me I never toasted it and that’s after God knows how many builds and I should say I’m glad to see you back always nice when people are in good health and back on the forum so I’m happy to hear it

InactiveI didn’t realize I had put my name on my profile, thanks to Billy, I am now back into my identity as “Syphonear”. Another reason to express gratitude to Billy for all his great work here.
Thanks for the nod to good health, Billy. I finally learned that I was not indestructible and fell victim to a curable bout with the BIG C. I’m now a cancer-free survivor. Get those prostates checked, gents!!
One of the things I truly enjoy about pedal building, besides having a working pedal, is the trouble shooting. Often, more is learned from mistakes than any other way of learning. At least it works that way for me. We solder on!!!
