InactiveI forgot to RTFM before I started building, I want to use for a baritone guitar so apparently the 220n capacitors arent ideal.
Can I use 1u film box capacitors? I have those… Tayda doesnt have 820n, just 470n, 680n or 1u…

GuestBecause you read the fantastic manual, (RTFM) you probably noted that 470n caps were fine for bass. Your baritone guitar should do nicely since its frequency range lies between guitar (220n) and bass (470n). The build doc also said “or higher” so your 1u caps will work just fine.

I use a sub n up before as well, is there any disadvantage to cranking it or are you just looking to filter low level hum?

InactiveWait, now Im confused… In the ToneTwEQ build doc, it says to use 100n for guitar and 220n for bass… do I also need to use larger caps there?

GuestNo. I believe you are OK using 220n on the Tone TwEQ.

GuestIt may be OK to use 220n in both circuits but, I doubt that you are producing tones that are below 32Hz. So, I am pretty sure that you would not hear a difference if you tried both values.
The concern is to avoid a high pass filter that has a cutoff frequency higher than the lowest frequency that you will be passing.

InactiveBut there’s no resistor after to make it a filter… I thought these capacitors were used to block dc voltage into the input of the opamp and when coupled with a resistor create a bandpass filter. Sorry if I seem argumentative, I just want to understand.
Typically I see polarized caps as coupling capacitors to block dc voltage, pull the signal forward and to block feedback in the circuit. Or at least that was my understanding…. Please help me understand.
