Last one for the night – the Rainmaker makes everyone cry.  The input side is the new SWAH for full envelope funkiness.  The left side is a tricked out 2-channel MoWah, with Q and Volume knobs as well as a Bass Boost and 6 way voice switches.  The two channels are controlled by a 2 knob job and I interrupted the signal to the second channel with a normally closed stereo switch to allow for expression pedal control.  I loved cocked wah sounds and this is a ridiculous tool for that wonderful tone.

    I am jealous. Excellent execution.

I would love to hear more about this one.

Thanks Barry!  I’m stoked you are digging the new builds!

This one starts off pretty straightforward into a stock SWAH (although I may have used the wrong pot taper for the sensitivity) – then goes to a MoWah fitted with a red Fasel inductor with a Q floor of 10k and a 50k pot, giving noon around the same value as a stock crybaby.  Due to space restraints, I opted for a 6 way cap switcher instead of the RotoTone 8 that I’ve used in my expression wahs.  This will really only make an audible difference when using the expression pedal, so if anyone is planning on not using that, I wouldnt bother with this many options and use the on-board C8-C9 switch.  If you are planning to use an expression pedal, the values I have chosen for my sweeps are 1) 5n6 (stock)  2) 6n8  3) 10n  4) 15n  5) 22n  6) 33n – this is built for compensating between different guitars and amps etc, so the differences are subtle (unlike the chorus in my other post).   the Wah pot is then connected to the 2KJ to have two presets, however, for channel 2, i have placed a normally closed stereo jack between the 2KJ and the channel 2 wah knob, (theoretically) allowing an expression pedal to be plugged in and override the preset manually.  I say theoretically, because I am still sourcing a shell to build the expression pedal.  I’ll report back on that when it’s complete.

As i said above, I love the wah, and cocked wah filter sounds, so this was a perfect addition to my board….along with my expression-format super-MoWah “the Midnight Howler” as detailed in a previous post 😉
