    Version 3 of this PCB has a spot for ‘D2’ that is not listed in the BOM or shown on the schematic. Is that a polarity protection diode like a 1N4001 or is it something different?

    If it comes off 9v it will be polarity protection Steve

    Steve – awesome! I didn’t those were available yet. Mine Red Specials don’t have a D2. However, from looking at the PCB pics you’ve posted, I’d guess it’s a 1N4001 polarity protection diode.
