I just finished my sunn-t build. I bulit it as a combo version where I put The musikding rat and sunn-t in serial in one enclosure. Everything seems to work fine and it sounds great. There’s just one thing I wanted to ask:
When using the sunn-t in single channel mode. Is it possible that the volume (gain) pot of the passive channel is affecting the volume of the active channel? for example: I activate channel “brite”. Turning channel “normal” gain to maximum makes the signal slightly less gainy and loud. Just a bit but noticeable.

Georg – I’ve not noticed that behavior on my build. There ought be no bleed-over between channels on the Sunn-T build if the selector switch is properly wired. Did you double-check the pattern of the On-On-On switch before wiring it? I’ve noted that some switch brands have a reversed On-On-On patterns from others.

For my project I didn’t use the classic On-on-on switching version. As I wanted the control under my feet I tried the following:

first switch is the bypass, second switch acivates both channels at once or routes to the next switch which switches between normal and brite. rat switch activates the rat pcb which sits in front of the sunn-t.
I double checked every signal route. Maybe I should do the audio probe to find some issues.
Reviewing the schematic, I can see that the gain pot of the inactive channel will still be connected to the mixing point at the base of Q3. So movement of the inactive pot might change the signal balance of the active channel. Like Cybercow, I have not noticed this because I usually never need to adjust the inactive gain pot while using the active channel. I can’t imagine why you would need to do that while performing?

thanks a lot! that’s all I wanted to know. I don’t want to adjust the inactive channel while playing. I just came across this issue because I wanted to check my wiring 😉
