I’m interested in having sliders for the Lo/Mid/Hi controls to the TwEQ pedal. I’ve spec’d out the Bourns “PTA3043-2015DPA104” and “PTA3043-2015DPA504” – should these work? Normally instead of bothering you guys I’d just try it out but, with low availability, I’ll have to spend $50 to reach the minimum order quantity. Wouldn’t enjoy spending that for nothing if I can help it.

Here is the bourns slider pot documentation: http://download.siliconexpert.com/pdfs/2014/12/11/11/6/52/291/bos_/manual/91pta.pdf

Here is the Tone TwEQ build doc: https://guitarpcb.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/BD_Tone-TwEQ.pdf

    Thanks for any insight!!

Slider pots (faders) will work just fine if you get the appropriate values for the given pots in the Tone TwEQ. And considering there are no log pots used in the Tone TwEQ build, there is no concern for a specific taper. Just follow the same rules for wiring them to the PCB.

You can find those exact pots at mouser.com for $1.44 and $1.46 each in SINGLE quantities.  They would have the linear taper and 100K and 500K values needed.  The only feature that I would prefer would be to have CENTER DETENT so that the middle position would be visually easy to see.  Now you have a GRAPHIC EQUALIZER!

I have shied away from linear pots because I don’t have an easy way to cut long rectangle holes in aluminum enclosures.  If you have a secret, let me know.

I checked mouser, digi-key, allied… if they had one that would work, the lead time on it was about 4 months. The project I’m working on needs them sooner so I’m thinking of just buying 50pcs. That’s a great idea with the center detent! I think I’ll order some now with that option and swap them out when they arrive in 4 months.

As for cutting long rectangles into aluminum, I wish I had a secret for you. I’m actually putting this “pedal” inside of a guitar, so the rectangles I’m cutting only have to be into the plastic pickguard. Have you tried one of those small circular saws? If you found a saw blade with the same thickness as the rectangle you need, you could make a jig to have it cut a slit in the right spot.
