NT Preamp Boost: correct IC?

Finishing up a boost. Can’t get it to work with the TL072 the BOM calls for, but checked the notes, they say to use a TL061 or TL071, and it does indeed work great with a TL071.

Comparing diagram and pinout, and the circuit’s outputting on pin 6, which pinouts for TL072 say is the second input.

Just checking if I’m catching flukes of errors on my end, or if the BOM is incorrect and the TL071/TL061 would be the correct IC.

That is definitely a typo.

Also since it works with a TL071 that is also a good sign 😉

No problem! I just wanted to confirm since the TL072 seems to be pretty standard in most of your other circuits.
Plus, if anyone else has issues with it and do a search, maybe this will come up. Helping future builders.

Thanks MathU41. I had the same issue with the preamp boost section of a Rock Hard build. The TL072 would not work, so I changed it out and installed the TL071 and it worked. I noticed in a couple of photos in the “Show your build” thread that a TL061 was used in one build and a TL071 was used in another build. Thanks again for your post about this; it saved a project for me!

Wow, OK. That was some typo.

Several conflicting reports and I should have looked closer at the symbol and not just the text above it.

I got it sorted now and thanks for pointing it out. It is a TL071 and not TL072.

I have updated the Build Document.

Glad posting it up helped the future builders!

No problem, mistakes happen. They’re just usually on my end, and why I use sockets for every IC now! And happy to point it out so things could get corrected before it popped up more.
