KeymasterIt is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Ray’s passing. For the past 14 years, Ray has been an integral part of our GuitarPCB community, serving as a dedicated Moderator, a brilliant designer, and a constant source of encouragement and support.
Ray’s ability to troubleshoot builds, design incredible combos, and share his ideas so generously has left a lasting impact on so many of us. His passion for this craft and his kindness toward everyone who crossed his path will never be forgotten.
To those who had the privilege of working with Ray or learning from his expertise, we have lost not just a Moderator, but a true friend and inspiration. My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this time.
Ray, you will be greatly missed, and your contributions to this community will live on.
I will particularly remember the flight I took with my kids to Colorado to spend a week with him. He had an entire schedule for us and we saw everything there was to see near Denver including a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
To honor his memory and continue learning from his incredible expertise, I encourage everyone to explore the wealth of knowledge and ideas Ray shared through his posts. His wisdom and creativity will remain a lasting inspiration to us all.

ParticipantI haven’t been here for a while but I’m sad to see this email pop up. Wilkie helped me on a few early builds and was my introduction to the type of people who run in the pedal community. I was kind of surprised to find a group of people who would share knowledge so easily and happily on the internet and Wilkie was a shining example.

ParticipantR.I.P. Ray! Thank you for all the knowledge you’ve generously shared with us and the encouragements and inspirations you’ve given us! You’ll be sorely missed by the entire pedal building community!
I’ve personally learned a great deal from the few brief interactions I’ve had with Ray and from reading his posts in this forum.
Barry, terribly sorry for your loss in a great friend, appreciate you sharing this with us.
My sincere condolences to Ray’s family and friends.

ParticipantI’ve only been on these forums for a shot time, but from the very moment that I found this community most of the time any knowledge and answers I was seeking lead to a post or thread that Ray either personally wrote or provided the most useful insight on. It’s a real big loss for everyone.
People that have filled their life seeking and spreading knowledge are a particularly special variety of human and while I did not personally know him I was directly inspired and educated by his participation in this forum.
Thanks Barry for letting us know about his passing, but also thank you for sharing the wonderful experiences you and your family personally had with him.
I fully support the idea that Alan had above and would buy the heck out of PCB (possibly a NT TripleCombo style) based on some of the circuits that Ray really liked and talked about that was named after him. He always had interesting insights on fuzz pedals and provided some really neat mods to modulations effects like chorus and phaser.

ModeratorWow. Such a huge part of GPCB. A friend to many of us. He was overflowing with pedal knowledge and has helped and encouraged so many of us. I’m real glad to have known him and equally glad that his work went into so many of Barry’s circuits that he will never really be gone. It was fun competing for best combo and learning from him at the same time. I’ll continue to think of him from time to time. He’ll always be an inspiration. My thoughts are with the family and close friends. His life should be celebrated. Maybe it’s a good time for a combo competition.

ModeratorI’m so sorry to hear this terrible news
Ray was a very knowledgeable guy and always willing to share his technical abilities with patience and grace
I used to enjoy the personal banter we shared both having served in the forces Ray as a US Navy pilot and me as a Royal Navy electronic warfare operator his job to get me and mine to make sure he didn’t
We had a lot of laughs with plenty of wind ups I’ll miss the big man

ParticipantThis news greatly saddens me. Wilkie has helped me out immensely on this forum with advice, suggestions and tutelage. The loss to this pedal building community is huge. He had an incredible wealth of knowledge with regard to pedal building.
I believe he recently moved for retirement and I had planned on visiting him on one of my long cross country RV trips to California. Unfortunately, that chance to have a verbal conversation with someone I consider a mentor is no longer possible. Life it seems at times is too short. Maybe one of the days I will get to visit with another board moderator if chances permit.
I will always be thinking of him every time I come here for suggestions or advice. My condolences to his friends and family.
