Hi, I’m about to start building the MoRC v4 and was thinking about adding the Buff N’ Blend to blend some of the original guitar signal back. I was just wondering if anyone has already tried this and if there are any gotchas I should look out for?

Specifically, I’m hoping the impedances (out of the buff n blend and into the MoRC and vice versa) will not cause any problems. I’m looking at it and it seems to look logical but I’m still learning a lot of this stuff. Thanks in advance for any thoughts and insights.

BTW – I noticed v4 has diode D4 that isn’t in the parts list. According to the schematic it’s a 1N4001. Reverse biased so it’s some kind of protection diode?

That is correct. It is a protection diode.  Barry will add that to the build doc I’m sure.

Yeah it’s on the schematic power supply section 1N4001

Barry’s obviously added it as further protection

    Build doc updated.

At a glance I believe this circuit inverts the phase? If so you would need a small circuit like the 1″ x 1″ Stage 3 Booster to correct the phase.

Ah damn, phase! I guess I’ll just try it out and see if I need to add something else. Thanks Barry and everyone else.

I tested both on the MEGA-EFFECTS  board.

The Squishy Octopus does NOT invert.

The MORC DOES INVERT the signal.

    Verified on the O’scope.

    Thanks for the confirmation @wilkie1

So when I add the phase inverting circuit does it make sense to put it on the signal going into the MoRC or out of it? Or does it not matter. My gut is telling me it shouldn’t matter but since the stage 3 is designed to be a final boost I should put it on the output side (though I will probably just use a trimmer or resistor and leave it at unity gain). Thoughts?

Edit BTW – I’ve finished assembling the MoRC and got a chance to play around with it, it sounds great and quite responsive and squishy. Love it.

Either way is fine but I would use it at the output of the MoRC myself.

Hey I wanted to give an update. Thanks to everyone for their help!

The pedal is a bit of a mess (I made some assumptions on fitment that were incorrect) and certainly not my finest work but the problems were nothing a little ingenuity and a ton of extra wire couldn’t fix LOL.  The good news is it’s all working as it should and sounds great. Even better is how much I learned on this build and I’m super excited to do more.

    Here’s a gut shot for everyone’s amusement

Here’s how it fits in the box

    And the front side:
