Speaking for the giging musicians I work with, I can offer a few thoughts. There are two working environments to discuss. Live performance and studio. I have built very complex effects combinations in the past that provided extreme versatility with many knobs and switches. The musicians that do live performances don’t like having to squat down and make changes while the applause is dying from their last number. For these folks, KISS–Keep It Simple Sofnwhat! For use in a studio when you have more time to try different settings to dial in “The Sound”, the more versatility you offer with knobs and switches, the better.
Having said this, I should point out that there are elaborate pedal boards that offer programming of different effects combinations with a single press of a foot switch. If that is your design approach, then you can make it as complex as you wish.
Phase invert switches might be needed if you are changing the effects used in each loop. If they are hard wired, you can make a phase correction part of the hard wiring design.
I hope this helps.
