I bought a Buff N’ Blend kit, planning to use it as a stand alone pedal to crate a separate effects-loop so I can mix my “EarthQuaker Devices Tentacle” with my dry guitar signal. Up on closer inspection, this it seems like this is not its intended use. Is it possible to do this by adding two extra jacks and connecting them to the send and return of the pcb?

This is the first pedal I try to make, so excuse me for my ignorance.

The best PCB  for this is the Paramix. <—-  Build Guide Link

This will allow you to connect any number of pedals and MIX. It also has a switch that will fix phase issues.

    No need to mod pedals.

Thanks for the quick response. I already have the Buff N’ Blend, so it feels a bit silly to just buy an other kit, given that I have very limited soldering experience and might very well mess something up. Can I connect the send and return on the Buff N’ Blend PCB to jacks and have a functional pedal?

Does the Earthquaker pedal invert the phase? If it does then you cannot use the Buff N Blend without adding an additional single stage circuit like the Stage 3 Booster to correct the phase. You will need to look at the schematic to verify. I stress this up front so you can avoid building a mistake.

The Buff N Blend is designed for putting a circuit for which the phase is known inside the same enclosure with the circuit you want to Blend.

That said you can build Buff N Blend to work exactly as you mentioned in your first post. If it inverts the phase, you will hear it, then just be prepared to add another “single stage circuit” in series with the Tentacle to correct the phase.

Phase makes no difference when running pedals in series straight to a guitar amp. (This is why most people do not consider phase). When  introducing a parallel loop such as the Buff N Blend, or an amp with a parallel loop, then phase must be considered. More INFO HERE.

I took the liberty of looking up a schematic. If this is the circuit then it does not invert the phase so you can add it to your Buff N Blend loop without needing phase correction.

Be aware that if you ever add another pedal to your loop that may change depending on whether the additional circuit is inverting or non-inverting. You will notice by ear that you lose a lot of bottom end to your sound.

    Thanks for the great support!

If I enjoy building the kit, I know where to buy the next one 😉
