Bass Overdrive V2 – No Sound (solved)

Hello everyone,
After discovering and getting interested in DIY pedals, I wanted to get started by building this bass overdrive for a friend. Thanks to the hard work of the GuitarPCB team, it was quite a pleasant discovery!
But, after having finished populating the PCB, the 3PDT PCB and the wiring, it turns out that no instrument sound comes out of the pedal. The ByPass doesn’t work and neither does the effect (despite a rather substantial buzz… but I’m not there yet 😉 )
The LED light works and changes color when I press the switch. I think I’ve followed the guides provided, but I can’t find the solution to my problem.
Would it be possible to get some help?

When there is no bypass that means something is wrong between Input Jack -> 3PDT -> Output Jack. That is what you have to sort out first and foremost until you get bypass. Likely when Bypass is sorted out the pedal engaged will also work. Typically it is the wiring but could also be bad jacks or foot switch.

With no bypass and no effect I’d check to see if the jacks are good. A few years back I managed to get several bad jacks that drove me nuts.

Check you have your in jack tip blue wire soldered to the correct lug with a jack inserted follow the tip connection round to its solder lug like this

Yeah, Billy sees it. The blue wire is soldered to the ring of the jack and needs the tip.

I corrected the wiring and it works! I didn’t quite understand how the different parts of the jack worked, but now I’ve got it!
Now I just have to try and control the buzz a bit… 😛

Test the circuit with a battery to rule out a lot of potential problems.

If the noise disappears when using a battery then you know where to look.
