Hey all, I tried to build the same setup here: https://guitarpcb.com/forums/topic/a-mash-up-of-two-classic-cornish-style-pedals/

The first time, I just could not get it to work, (won’t go into details) but I got impatient, and decided to start completely over again from scratch. The second time around, I took my time, was extra careful, and I tested both the Animal and SuperSonic on my test rig, and they were PERFECT (just like the first time I tried this).

The problem is when I wire up the switching controls. I have the Buff n Blend on the Animal, a regular 3PDT wiring board on the SuperSonic, and an Easy Order Switch in between. I followed all the wiring schemes to the tee, but no “effects joy”. All I get is hum. I can get the clean signal through, but no effects from either board no matter what combination of switching I try.

Pretty sure the problem is somewhere in the B&B, or the Easy Order Switch, but I just don’t know what else to try. Any suggestions?

I will do a wiring sketch for you and post it tomorrow.  To verify, you want the Animal to be the “effect” in the BnB and the Supersonic to be the “effect” on the 3PDT board.  Both the Animal and the Supersonic to be order switched?

Hi Wilkie. Yes, that is exactly what I’m trying to do. Appreciate your help!

Thanks Wilkie! I have a question:

Concerning the connections between the Animal and the B&B (As I have it now), I have S1-S2 jumpered and S7-S8 jumpered. (That was the only way I could get the effect coming through when I tested the Animal by itself). In your drawing, you have a separate 3PDT board between the Animal and the B&B, but I am assuming that is an external representation of the one that is on the B&B. So am I to un-jumper those “S” terminals, and if so, where do I wire them to on the B&B? Aside from that, it looks like I have everything set up right.

This is what I am trying to duplicate: https://guitarpcb.com/forums/topic/a-mash-up-of-two-classic-cornish-style-pedals/

    Thanks!

No.  You did it correctly.  If you are not going to use a separate 3PDT switch to bypass the Animal while leaving the buffer in place, then you can jumper 1-2 and 7-8 and not use the extra switch that I showed.

Hmmm, then it looks like I have it set up correctly. One other question: of the five boards are all of them “ground is ground”  ? I have all grounds daisy chained singly board-to board. The only connections that have dedicated grounds are the input and output jacks on the Easy Order switch. Im assuming everything else is sharing power/signal ground.

Yes.  All devices need to share a common ground.  That includes the IN/OUT jacks

Maybe I found the problem. In the published build doc for the Easy Order Switch, both I/O’s are reverse to the I/O’s that go to the 3PDT boards. So is your drawing correct, and the build doc wrong? (See snapshot below)

    The drawing is correct.

FX2I should go to 3PDT I and FX2O should go to 3PDT O – Like they are mated to each other. Same as FX1 side.

The I stands for In and the O stands for Out.

Sorry about that I am reworking that now. Everything else is correct.

Just switch the Yellow and Purple wire at one end on the FX2 side only.

Thanks Barry! Regarding your last statement: wouldn’t I also need to swap the yellow and blue on FX1 side as well? I think they are both reversed if I’s should mate and O’s should mate, correct?

Yes that is correct it looks like both sides are mismatched. I musta been outa my mind.

Man, no worries. Easy fix. I think everyone’s eyes go crossed doing this kinda stuff. Appreciate all you do.

    Should look like this.

and I made a big discovery how this all got crossed in my head.

The 4PDT and the 3PDT versions are not identical regarding In and Out placement on the main board.

That said they work as they should but you have to focus on wiring the Ins and the Outs to each other.
