mybudModeratorHi all: My question regards substituting the internal DIP switch for an externally mounted DPDT so that one can selectively switch in D5 and D6. I assume this is an asymettrical/symettrical option. One could always use two SPSTs, to have all three options, I assume.
But I have a couple of three-way DPDTs available: (on-off-on) and (on-on-on). I was wondering if there’s a way to use the middle position to bring both diodes in, with ‘up’ and ‘down’ selecting D5 and D6 respectively and, if so, which type of switch is best for this. Thanks in advance for the help.

GuestUse an ON-ON-ON DPDT switch. Follow the wiring diagram shown on the SUNN T build doc. Add the diodes to the NORMAL and BRIGHT switch lugs using opposing diode directions. The middle position will provide both diodes in an opposing pair.

mybudModeratorThanks for the prompt and clear reply, Wilkie1. Will check the Sunn diagram. Best, mybud

mybudModeratorOnce again wilkie1: Apologies, I don’t seem quite to understand how this switch works.
Following the Sunn wiring diagram, I’ve wired the on-on-on as follows:
in attached pic, from top to bottom
1 NC 4 diode 2 (-) brown lead
2 diode 1 (+) red lead 5 connected to lug 3 & diode 2 (+) orange lead
3 diode 1 (-) 6 NC

Looking at the T-drive, I’ve wired orange to lug 2 (joined to 3) of the 500k drive pot. Red and brown go together to lug 1 (joined to 2) of the 50k treble pot. The various switch possibilities don’t seem to make a really big difference to the sound. So question is if I’ve wired this correctly? As always, any assistance greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, mybud

GuestGive me some time to draw a wiring diagram for you. I’ll reply later today.

GuestHere is a drawing that will show how to use a ON-ON-ON switch. Some switch types have different switch patterns. You may need to modify your wiring accordingly.
