ParticipantHello again
@Barry Thanks again for your suggestions. I finally made it useable and in certain cases it can actually sound good (not the whol rage though). What I did (always between steps bias again)
I put back the 1K resistors like you mentioned and removed C1 and C2 . At that point is sounded kind of dead since with both knobs all the way, it was overdriven but kind of “dead”. So I put back C2 now I had something usable.
Besides that I played a bit with bias voltage and I think 4,5V on all 3 was kind of the sweet spot.
So in the end I removed 1 cap (C1) and biased to 4,5V instead of 5V.
Thanks again for your help

ParticipantHello Barry
thank you for the reply. The problem is not too much, the problem is that it does not work as expected since the pots do not do what they supposed to do in this state. also the sound is kind of bad, not just distorted. The videos sound good and that’s why I ordered it.
Anyway I will try your recommendation tomorrow and I will post an update if that does not work then I will put it on breadboard and see what is the problem ( maybe during the weekend). in any case I will post an update
thanks

ParticipantHello,
I bought the kit from Musikding as well and it is exactly what is described above and maybe a bit worse. I have tried it with 3 basses both active passive, EMG.
Going to Ec electronic BQ500 and tehn 2×10 cab, OR a small Ibanez practice amp.
5V on all J113 and 4V but still the same issues. Also I put in serial another set of resistors on the 1k ones (3,6k+1k). Nothing was improved, I again did thte bias to 5V. This time when started with the new resistors the Voltage was 7,5V or so.
I will try tomorrow the 6.8KOhm but i think then there will be an issue with the trim pots since with the increased resistance the lowest was 5,3V/4,5/4,5 respectively. So with 6.8k iwould expect the min Voltage to be higher.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
