Removing C1 and C3 will reduce the gain of the first two JFET stages, giving you a cleaner, less aggressive response. Leave C5 in place for now. After the modification, rebias the stages to approximately 5V at the drains.

If you ordered a pre-drilled enclosure from Tayda then the LEDs are mounted on the wiring board so you will need to short the Main Board LED pads and I would use a trimmed component lead to do that and not just a blob of solder.
