With regard to Wilkie1’s ‘Mini-Me” ‘Depth’ switch mod, I wanted to offer another solution that provides 3 selections (instead of four) and uses a DPDT (On-On-On) toggle switch for three cap change options. I’ve tested it and it performs as anticipated. Basically, I just modified Wilkie1’s Mini-Me Depth Mod document . . . .

I read these as position 1 (left) C3 is in series = 330 pF.

    Position 2 (middle) C3 is parallel with C2 = 430 pF.

Position 3 (right)  only C1 is connected in series = 47 pF.

So yes, this will offer 3 different values using a DPDT switch.  Well done!

    Wilkie1 – Position #2 is actually 147pF (parallel is additive)  😉

    Yep!  C2 (100) + C3 (330) = 430.  Is that not correct?

    Just switch C1 to 330pF and C3 to 47 pF.  Now position 2 will be 100 + 47..

Wilkie1 – the internet here has been shite. I think I finally have the image in the OP corrected to reflect the planned & tested cap selection of 47pF, 147pF & 330pF. Of course, different DPDT (On-On-On) switches may have different “center” position connections. Those MUST always be verified before depending on the switch orientation.

Indeed.  We just had another SUNN T issue that involves the switch issue.  The Build Doc does warn that different switches may confuse the builder.  It is very easy to confuse these things!

    On to the next challenge!!!

Thanks Wilkie1! The next challenge is to get this latest Mini-Me build into a 1590B and still have the 3-way toggle Depth mod – AND top-mounted jacks. Top-mounted jacks on 1590B is tight, but the PCB just fits and it looks like Lumberg jacks will do the trick.

    Happy building!
