I finished building an SWAH over the weekend. it has an extreme volume drop when engaged. if I crank my amp to bring it up to a good volume, the pedal sounds good. it’s doing what I expect besides the volume drop. I’m not going to have a chance to debug it until this weekend. in the meantime, I’m wondering if anybody might have an idea of where to start. I was planning on taking an audio probe to it when I can this weekend. but if somebody has any knowledge that could help point me in the right direction that would be awesome. thanks.

Without photos to assist you, I can only speculate that common reasons for this are:

    A poor solder connection

An incorrect value component.  (resistor, pot, etc.)

    Incorrect voltage at certain points.

I took a good look with a magnifying glass. I noticed my jfet wasn’t seated properly. I re-seated it and that’s all it was. it works now. and sounds really good. thank goodness it wasn’t something major. this is the second auto wah I’ve tried to build and I was starting to think they were cursed for me.
