Stage 3 and Tone TwEQ utility combo

Since combo builds are all the rage in these parts (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), I thought I’d try my hand at a Stage 3 into Tone TwEQ just for fun. As you see, I wired the Tone TwEQ using three 9mm pots for the tone controls and a hand-wired volume pot immediately below. The Stage 3 uses a J113 for front end and after auditioning a 2134 in the Tone TwEQ, I eventually settled on the recommended TL072. Couldn’t hear a substantial difference between them TBH.

Here’s the finished product, including Barry’s suggested cap mod on the Stage 3 for less or more low end as desired. As in the title, it’s more or less a utility preamp with active tone control, versatile enough for both guitar and bass guitar. Next up, the NT60s combo…TBC.
