    Hi,

Stupid question. Can the EMEXAR PCB be “frankensteined” into a Black Cat OD-1 by using  the Cat’s component list, and switching to an OP275? If not, anyone know of a vendor that sells the PCB, or doesn’t it exist?

    Thanks

There are no stupid questions here.  Sometimes we give stupid answers though.  But, your question is not possible with the EMEXAR.  Why?  Because the schematic is not the same or even close to the Black Cat.  The EXEXAR has one Opamp stage.  The Black Cat has two.

You can find the schematic on line and then you could make a vero version of it.

There’s plenty of layouts on the net for the blackcat od heres a couple to get you started

Not entirely surprised that nobody noticed just how close that BlackCat circuit sounds compared to our OMG Mongoose circuit which is based off of a famous Roger Mayer circuit made more famous by Joe Perry during Aerosmith’s big 80’s comeback. One of my faves which explains why I must have thought of it. While not an exact copy by circuit it is extremely familiar by sound.
