    Hello everyone,

Total rookie here making what I assume are total rookie mistakes on the 1 knob fuzz (please don’t make fun of me lol). I’m trying to attach a photo as well but it would appear as though I have blown a capacitor. In particular the 22uf electrolytic one. Before I was having somewhat of a droning fuzz sound. That would play when engaged. I made the mistakes of making my life difficult and I got an undrilled casing as well, which I didn’t do the best job of measuring out. I’m attempting to attach a picture. I’m aware that I need a new capacitor but I’m also looking for guidance on how to make this work. I have the tools I just lack the experience, so I’m humbly asking for some assistance.

Peter – Exploded caps happen when the wrong polarity voltage supply is applied. My guess is that a new C5 (22µF) and a proper voltage supply polarity will solve it. What did you use for the power supply?

I used a standard 9v adapter for pedals

Peter – If the power supply was a negative center 9v & the DC supply wiring is correct – fair enough. If the proper power supply was used, then that leaves two remaining errors I can think of – that polarized electrolytic was inserted backwards or the received more voltage for which it was rated. (Can’t read the values on cap shell in the photo.)

    Greetings from Cajah’s Mt.????

So, that’s what a blown cap looks like…

I’ve been lucky so far, but, pray for me anyways. Kinda looks like on of them ‘party poppers’ we used to mess around with when I was a kid.

Not making light of your predicament, brother Peter.

I’m just one of them folks what notices things… ????

I’ve been at this for a few months now, but, I still have my own ‘predicaments’ from time to time.

Just keep after it, you’ll get there…????

After all, we’ve got some of the best pedal techs around just itching to help us out.????
