Here’s a new one, as above. I’ve built a number of Fender-style preamps over the years but this one is my favourite to date. It has the ample low end as one might expect (around eight o’clock) and then becomes brighter as one turns the tone pot clockwise without becoming too shrill or harsh.
The gain switch gets you into serious overdrive and the preamp gets pretty rude pretty quickly, but the cleans do it for me with that elusive sound which isn’t over-bassy.

My local had some of these 1590S enclosures at a good price so I tried this as an experiment. In retrospect, I didn’t realise how much more room they offer, so mounted the board higher than necessary. Hence the weird jack spacing to clear the offending 100uF cap but all’s well that ends well.

BTW it does nice things to my P-Bass as well on the darker setting. Overall a versatile addition to the NT range. Thanks for reading and happy building.
