Bruce and I have been working out this new type of 3PDT Wiring Board which includes a Trimmer for adjusting the LED level of brightness. You can do this as a set and forget using either a Standing trimmer or Flat Mount.

If you use a Flat Mount trimmer you may drill a small screwdriver hole in the back cover of your pedal for access without even needing to open it up or if you choose the Standing trimmer you can access the trimmer in the same manner with a small drill hole through the front of the pedal (not top) but where you would kick it with your toe.

Obviously you don’t need to drill any holes. Simply access by removing the back cover for a set and forget.

You may use either the top pf the board or the underside giving you four trimmer mounting options in total.

Same size as our original Wiring board and features all of the same options but includes a small “wing” for the mounting of a trimmer.

This is not to replace the Original 3PDT Wiring Board but be offered as an alternative.

    What do you guys think?

If you have a clever name for this based on what it does that we choose I will send you some for FREE!

That said it has to fit on this small board in place of the GPCB.

Definitely a winner in my book. Does anything need to be jumpered if using the CLR or the trimpot?

    First name submission: “3PDT Vari-Glow”

    Second name submission: “3PDT Vari-Brite”

Great idea for the board and great ideas for the name.

I drilled a hole in the bottom plate in my first ever pedal build, an NPN Ge fuzz face, so I could quickly access the PCB mounted trimpot.  I used a rubber stopper to plug the hole and it worked like a dream.  I posted the hack on the pedal site’s forum under the “mods” section.  However, I decided to modify the trimmer by making an external trimmer.  I have an external trimmer/bias on all the Germanium pedals I have built.

Adjust-O-Bright 3PDT & LED Wiring Board is my attempt at a name.  A little long, but best I can come up with.

@ Ccow: We think a good value for the CLR would be perhaps 1K8 (w/most LEDs that’s very bright) while keeping the LED from blowing. Then use a 2K, 2K5, 3K or 5K trimmer to dim as much as you wish. Of course people can vary either the CLR or Trimmer values to suit there needs as long as there is enough resistance in the CLR to keep it from blowing.

I also think the fact that everything is ultimately mounted to the foot switch will make it real secure for adjusting from the outside.

Found my pics of the bottom plate mod.

    Plug in place.

Top of the box in case you were wondering.

I actually like Cybercrow’s idea except I would switch the order – Vari-Brite 3PDT board.

The “Rite-Brite” 3PDT board gives you just the right amount of bright whether you plan to perform outside daytime gigs or jamming out with your band on a dark stage.

Or just ad a pot where the trimmer goes for external manipulation.

That might be fun and useful for finding all those dropped guitar picks or stand over your pedal for a Solo Spot. LOL.

There are already some pretty good suggestions here, but how about just the ‘w/ LED mod’  😉
