Industrial Fuzz Stab short circuit smoke

Hi I accidently had a bit of exposed wire going to the stab potentiometer that was touching the case, I noticed the smell of smoke and the pot was so hot it destroyed itself. I fixed the problem with some electrical tape and all is well.

Was the exposed wire touching the case enough to cause this to happen or have I possibly wired something dangerously wrong? The fuzz sounds awesome now but I fear it will get hot again?

Here it is with the replaced stab pot, tested it out and it doesnt get hot and sounds good, I think it sounded better before I boxed it, needs more testing
