I’m trying to build a creamy dreamer version of the MUFF’N with no success. I’ve done the clipping mod and the mid scoop control mod. With an audio probe I have sound all the way to Q4 then nothing. I have power at r22,r25 and to one leg of c13. I’ve reflowed all the joints in these areas and replaced the capacitor at c13. This is a combo build with an emerald ring, I have sound in bypass and the emerald ring also works. I’m reaching out so I don’t have a MUFF’N build of shame. My Q readings are as follows.
Q1 C 6.24 B .53 E 0
Q2 C 8.17 B 1.23 E 0
Q3 C 4.21 B .56 E 0
Q4 C 9.03 B .04 E 0
This was done with the transistors installed and they are 2n5088, also I had 9v at the one leg of c13. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.June 5, 2022 at 12:51 am #24888
BarryKeymasterI would start by doing things like re-flowing all the pads. Then after that try again. It is a bit of a Sherlock mystery sometimes. I would also make sure you have very firm transistor connections. If they are kind of flopping around in there it can cause a problem like this.
You can bend the leads back and forth a few times at opposite angles to get more traction on the transistor.

Verify the pinout of the transistor you are using as well.

BillyModeratorApart from Q3 your transistor collector voltages look high
What are the voltages on the empty sockets
I can’t see any incorrect values all look good
The only resistor I’m not 100% on is R11 can’t quite make out the multiplier band

InactiveThis is James again. So I’ve spent a few hours on this MUFF’N this afternoon following the recommendation from Barry and double checking r11 as Billy mentioned. R11 is a 22k and my joints couldn’t be any more shiny, I adjusted my transistor legs and made sure everything was tight. Still nothing, so after a cold PBR I decided to change c13 from a box to a ceramic capacitor and noticed on the component side no solder came through the board on the leg that isn’t getting power. I redid it and still nothing. Should I solder that leg on the component side as well? My Q readings have changed a little bit, they are
open socket
Q1 C 9.08 B 8.67 E 0
Q2 C 8.74 B 1.24 E 0
Q3 C 7.67 B 1.08 E 0
Q4 C 9.10 B .04 E 0
With transistors
Q1 C 9.04 B 8.64 E 0
Q2 C 4.22 B .55 E 0
Q3 C 4.17 B .55 E 0
Q4 C 9.06 B .04 E 0
My win streak has ended in a fiery crash with this one. Barry can you go back to sending me the boards that work on the first try?

GuestDid you ever get this issue resolved? I just built two Creamy Dreamers with almost the exact same issue. I get sound through my probe up to C12…then nothing.
