You could say that that their tones were just going through a phase………..

Kirk Hammett’s out of phase setup is generally attributed to an error made by his tech, but even earlier Fleetwood Mac’s  co-founder Peter Green had a similar set up with out of phase pickups as well.  If I’m not mistaken his modification was intentional.

I *think* that when Kirk found out that his guitar sounded amazing because of the out of phase situation, he realized that it was a similar sound to Peter Green’s tone and that is why Kirk’s LP with an upside-down pickup was named “Greeny”.  Im pretty sure I also heard somewhere that sometime right before Peter Green died (2020) Kirk Hammett purchased Green’s 59′ LP for some silly amount of money.  That means Kirk Hammett has his “Greeny” LP made by mistake and now has Peter Green out of phase LP which started this whole thing!  What a lucky dude.

    Great info all around. Thanks

    I was wondering.

I have an ampless rig. My current signal chain is ODs/EQ —} PREAMP pedal (C2C BassDude) —} IN of Tone Geek’s Box-a-lator —} SEND to mod/delay –} RETURN of Box-a-lator –} OUT to SD Power 170 –} VOX Berkeley II 2X12 cabinet

I was thinking of building a Paramix to replace the Box-a-lator (which works fine, but ya gotta periodically fiddle around with somethin’ on your board, right?) with a Buff n’ Blend in front of it. So:

IN JACK to BnB as bypass switch —} SEND of the BnB goes to the IN of the Paramix..OUT of the Paramix back to the RETURN of the BnB to OUT JACK.. Would I then be able to use the FX Loop and the Insert while still being able to use the BLEND on the B&B to keep the primary DRY signal available? So I would be using the BnB’s BLEND pot to mix the original DRY signal and the entire Paramix..MIX.

-I could still use the Kill switch, right? How about the 100% Wet footswitch mod?

-Would this be a pointless and needlessly complicated way to do some basic shit? (i.e. hey man..just don’t use the INSERT Loop!)

Would this be a useful thing? Anyone have any other cool (and relatively easy) mod ideas to make this even more complicated and utilitarian?

    Thanks
