The first build I tested had 9+ volts at the junction (post #3, above), The other 2 builds I attempted after #1 hit the circular file – same thing. 9+ Volts on the positive leg of C21,

Also: After reflowing the solder on all pads, then cleaning the flux off with Iso, I’m still getting voltage *on* the board itself, not just on solder pads.

I don’t have anything to add, unfortunately, as I am just starting in the hobby too. My first couple of breadboard experiments didn’t go so well, and I’m waiting for two components to complete my first PCB attempt. Your experience sounds very frustrating, but it’s all a learning experience, right? Be patient, keep at it

I wasn’t planning on building the 69 Stones next, but I do have the PCB in hand and maybe I will now. I think I need to order most of the components for it, though, so it might be a bit. Then I can share my tales of woe too!

Thing is, I’ve built other boards from here without issue. And in between growling at the Stones Drive boards, I put together 4 stripboard builds: a Dope Priest, Crimson Drive, Gainster and a Hizumitas. All fired up on first test through my rig. So I can rule out my test rig, my solder/iron, and likely the components I have on hand.

If you’re getting 9v at the junction of R18 and 19 it sounds like it could be a problem with ground check all your ground connections especially around the power section  C19, 20, 21 R18, 19 and D2

Also post images where we can clearly see and trace all of your offboard wiring

Okay, first batch of board images from the final build (board #3). After soldering I only used iso to clean the flux from the board around the joints (no scratching/knifing)

Control (back) side: NOTE: I will try to add better pics shortly.

I finally got some quality time with the 69 Stones Drive PCB tonight. It’s coming along pretty quickly.

I should probably post this question separately, but… I was just going to drill an enclosure for my 69 Stones Drive and I see in the build doc a partial diagram to locate the pots. I’ve seen other build docs that provide the full face of an enclosure to help locate the various parts (audio jacks, power jack, pots, LED, etc.). Because of my lack of experience building pedals, I am not sure how far up or down to place the PCB to clear other components. It appears more builders put the power and audio jacks on the top of 125B enclosures than on the sides?
