I built a Ge Fuzzrite based on Steve Daniels schematic. I swapped a bias resistor for a bias pot using lugs 1 and 2. My question is…what do I do with lug 3 and why. Some grounded it and others tie it to lug 2.

Also, I just finished the Marsha Tone. Very Cool.

    Thanks !

You can leave it or bridge it, it’s wired as a variable resistor that’s why it only uses 2 lugs to vary the bias resistance as you turn it

Using lugs 1 and 2 as you turn it up resistance increases as opposed to using lugs 2 and 3 where it would decrease as you turn it up

Has anyone one done this mod on the full size Ge Fuzz Face reissue? I’ve done it on a mini Ge and full size Si with success but recently tried it on a full size Ge and not getting any bias trimming effect. There are three pads, with pad for lug 1 traced to pad for lug 2. This is fairly typical for Q2 bias. I’ve tried just wiring the 2 and 3 pads to a variable resistor, jumping lug 1 to 2, wiring all three to their corresponding pads, and no bias’ing. What’s weird is that simple 2 and 3 pads to 2 and 3 lugs on the mini Ge works great. The full size Ge is from the late 90s, early 2000s. Anyone else have this issue?
