Hello brains! The true-bypassed output of my most recent OD build is very subtly losing the most shimmering delicate highs of my customer / friend’s straight-to-amp guitar sound. After extensive troubleshooting I’m accepting that this is just how true bypass sounds, exposed by his particular playing style, and I want to restore the signal by incorporating an always-active buffer.

I have exactly 1 Afterblaster pcb, and I would want its footswitch to become the only footswitch for the entire build. Used in this manner, what (if any) aspects of the Afterblaster can I expect the signal to still pass thru when in bypass?

When the AFTERBLASTER is in bypass mode, it is bypassing all of the circuit’s functions.  Therefore, it will pass everything that is sent to its input.

If you want to have the buffer always ON, you can remove the foot switch completely, install jumpers between pads 1 &2 and 7&8.  That will place the AFTERBLASTER in continuous ON buffer mode.  You can wire the foot switch as a separate master bypass for the entire box of effects.  I hope this helps.
