The Burner is a saturation generator engineered to add sustain and harmonic content to your signal. It is intended to push an already driven amplifier or another gain device further, creating a thicker response.
Saturation and distortion are related, but they serve different purposes. Distortion creates its own character through clipping, whether in an amplifier or a pedal, while saturation adds harmonic content as a driven signal is pushed further. The Burner is designed to work with an already driven amp or distortion circuit, adding that extra layer of harmonics and sustain without simply replacing the sound that’s already there.
The Burner takes inspiration from the approach used on the iconic first Boston album, focusing on taking an already driven Marshall amplifier signal further by adding sustain and harmonic complexity. It’s a concept that fits tones ranging from Moore, Satriani and Sykes, helping define an entire genre.
