I built one for a friend and I had a really hard time giving it to him.  It’s my favorite dirt of all time for now.  He loves it but mentioned he could use a little more gain.  I have a zenith PCB  en route, so I figured I could make him a higher gain version and reposess the one I wanted to keep for myself.  R2 change? Larger resistance gain pot?  What say you.

If you are starting from scratch, you may want to consider a tandem pedal. My suggestion is to get the Photon Phuzz and put it in front of the Zenith. It will overdrive the Zenith and bring out more of the characteristics you love.

I have done a zenith and really like it but thought it could use more gain.  Taking inspiration from Barry, I decided to build a tandem pedal. It has a Photon Phuzz going into a Zenith into a Sho ‘Nuff. Lots of bluesy, transparent gain with no mud.

Jon try increasing the gain pot to 1M that’ll give you more resistance in the negative feedback loop = more gain

Thanks so much Billy.  I will report back after trying this.

I built two Zeniths the other night right before losing power for a few days, so didn’t really get to put them through the paces until earlier this evening.  How terrible is it to finish a build and not get to test it?    I built one stock and one with the 1 meg pot.  The one with the one meg pot had about 10-15% more gain to my ear.  So it worked great, thanks.
