I am building the BYOC Green Pony next. I’m adding a Tone TwEQ in place of the volume control. I’m staring at the Tone control on the Green Pony and can’t for the life of me figure out why I should populate it when I have the Tone TwEQ doing active EQ.

Then I thought, maybe if I increased the resistance I could turn it into a presence control

    Am I crazy?

If it were me I would probably build them individually in series, into a combo pedal. (see more on combo builds on the Guides Page)

Each with its own bypass switch and volume control for the most tonal variations.

Then additionally you can use the Tone TwEQ by itself without the Pony engaged so you can alter tonal effects to any other pedals in your pedal chain which would be the most versatile move of all. This would be similar to how people would use an EQD Tone Job pedal except you would put 2 circuits into a single combo pedal to save space, or obviously, you can build them in their own enclosures.

Anything else is just chopping away at your options. IMHO.

You see, I looked really hard at the Super tone tweak for just this kind of build I’ve got both a Tone TwEQ and a Super Tone TwEQ board sitting here. I wonder if I can figure out how to build them in series in a single 125B size box

I’ve also got a 1590BB so if the 125B (Hammond 1590L, I think) doesn’t work out, I can try the design in the 1590BB
