GuestHi Guys, I just got this kit & before I build stuff, I check all the parts in & measure the values. All are great, but there seems to be a capacitor missing, R25, a 1k8 was not included in the kit. It shows up on the build sheet I downloaded for the MKC, but does not appear on the bill of materials list.
From using a multi-meter to trace the circuit it appears that something should be in R25.
Am I missing something here?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers to all!May 9, 2023 at 6:46 pm #28566
BarryKeymasterR25 is the current limiting resistor (CLR) for a Status LED (D3) on the main board. (It can be anything from 1k8 to 4k7) It is not necessary for the circuit to work and it is not mandatory to install a status LED to the main board either. We just provide options for many diverse builders. It can also be soldered to the 3PDT wiring board with an LED installed there, for example. You would only install the CLR (R25) on the main board if you plan to connect the status LED to the main board (D3).
Did your kit have instructions for the Status LED included? Did your kit come with a 3PDT wiring board?
I know that PP&K includes a “special sheet” explaining this since they do include a 3PDT wiring board with their kits. I cannot say for sure since I do not know where you got your kit.
At any rate, there should at least be a CLR for you to work with whether it is going on the main board or a 3PDT wiring board.

GuestHi Barry, Thanks man! I was just going over the built sheets again and saw that it mentioned if you use the 3PDT, which I have, that R25 was not needed. I really appreciate your fast response. You rock! Al

GuestHi Barry, Since you were so helpful could you please clarify one more thing for me? I got this kit from Bruce at Pedal Parts & Kits. On this MKC kit, it has the dual gang pots for the 2 gain hookups. There is an internal 100K pot, TR1 also. What does TR1 adjust?
Thanks in advance, AlMay 9, 2023 at 7:46 pm #28571
BarryKeymasterI know you are excited but take your time and go over everything. It will prevent issues later since likely you are not going to be doing any modding right out of the gate. Again we provide options for different levels of builders.
Below is from the main build document. This explains it all. If you are building a standard Klon do not use TR1.

Just yesterday this guy posted a Modded MKC thread. Again I am pretty sure this is not what you are going for but we do have these options for those that do.

Simply put TR1 is there just in case you want to experiment.

GuestHi, hope it is okay if I ask question here about the MKC kit as well. Does the kit have buffered bypass, or would I need to buy the 3PDT buffer kit and add that to it? Thanks.

GuestI have been told this pedal is true bypass, not buffered. Hope this helps. It is a great sounding Klon clone. Better than the Mosky Golden Horse, Caline Pegasus, RYRA Klone, Wampler Tumnus, JHS Morning Glory..I had them all mate. Cheers!
