Hi All,
This is my latest build. A Rangemaster feeding a BMP to get an Animato sound and a foot switch between them so they can be used individually.
I Veroboarded a negative ground Rangemaster circuit based on a Catlinbread Naga Viper boost which adds a Range knob to change the boost frequency, and a Heat knob to dial back the distortion. I had a hard time deciding which transistors sounded best so I used a Rototone board to select between 4 options; a single Ge transistor, Single Silicon, a Small Bear Ge Sziklai pair, and a NTE Sziklai pair (stock Animato).
The BMP or Muffin’ side is a Violet Ram build with switches (C1 – C4) added to select between 100n (stock BMP) and 10u (Animato) inter-coupling caps. I used the Muffin’ Mods for Clipping stage 1 and 2 and added the R20 scoop mod and a Rototone mod for the tone caps. Finally since I had so much fun with the Sziklai pairs on the Rangemaster, I used another Ge pair and added a switch to swap the distortion transistor between Si and a Ge Sziklai pair.
Thanks again to the GuitarPCB Forum for all the help. Ask, if there are any questions.
