GuestI’m looking for build information on the first tube screamer circuit done back from like pre 2013. The old website says the link is only available to moderators. Would one of the mods be able to send a link or a pic of the schematic and wiring diagram? I have an old build that was completed but I had some issues with the effect working. Thinking of getting it working or at least narrow down where my issue is at. Thanks for any help! 🙂

BarryKeymasterThe old site was broken without warning. I cannot access it either. The etched boards are from 2009 – 2012.
It will take some time to try and track this down hopefully from old notes on paper.

BarryKeymasterWell that was lucky.
Photos from my old notebook.

GuestOh thank you!! If there’s also any info on what voltages I should be getting on the 4558 and the two transistors that would be splendid but not a big worry. I’m gonna go through with my audio signal probe, and DMM just to isolate my issue. If I can’t get much from that then I’ll post later with pics and my readings. Thanks again for finding that! Really appreciate it!

GuestDo you happen to have the page after “mod 3”?

BarryKeymasterThat would be it.

BillyModeratorHi Aryk
The 4558 voltages will be your usual half power 4.5v (VREF) on the input and output pins, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 then 9v pin 8 and 0v pin 4
Your 4.5v reference voltage coming from the voltage divider junction of R17 and 18
The input and output buffer Q1 and 2 voltages will be the same, around
C 9v
B 3v
E 2.5v
I say around because the voltages depend on what your power supply puts out and you’ll get a wee bit of voltage drop through components
Here’s a basic audio path using the tube screaming ultra schematic which is more or less the same
Audio Probe PDF just in case you haven’t used one

You can build a basic one like this
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cHA_v6L8wqf9hfEW57xejZZ0EIGFJdzV/view?usp=drive_link
Solder one side of a 100n to 1u ceramic or film cap to a mono jack tip lug solder the otherside to a piece of wire then solder something fairly robust, like a piece of paperclip, to the wire end for your probe
Solder another piece of wire to the ground lug with a small croc clip to the wire end
