I was reading about an op amp buffer which uses a TL071. My local electronics store, weirdly, my town still has one where I can buy a lot of basic components, only has TL072, a dual op amp. I was looking for a build which would allow me to split my signal coming out of the last pedal in my chain to my mixer and my power amp (last pedal is in the effects loop).
I took a wiring diagram and a schematic for the TL071 buffer, and tried to set it up so I could use both op amps on the TL072, resulting in one input, two outputs, both buffered. I suspect if I built this it would likely turn inside out and explode. I’m hoping it’s close enough to right someone can see what I’m trying to do and tell me what a dunderhead I’m being and point me in the direction of some resources so I can get it working.
if on the other hand I am generally smoking crack and have not clue one, I’m happy to hear that too.
In that scenario, if you can point me to a reliable active splitter that buffers both outputs I would appreciate it.
It can be done. I’m using a couple of a Quantum Effects Boron Buffers (available on OSH Park) on my board – one for the dirt pedals and a second for the effects loop. They’re based on the Klon buffer and both have in and out buffers using a single TL072. Each has two ins and two outs – in from the guitar and out to the board then in from the board and out to the amp. The component values you’ve shown are similar but, the differences maybe due to the Boron’s Klon heritage. You probably need to add a 1N5817 to the + voltage.

I’m going to continue to play with this idea and will breadboard it. I found a buffer/splitter on AMZ’s site and will breadboard that and likely vero board it b/c challenges are fun. Thanks for the feedback!
