Behold the Howling Shiba Deluxe Wah – a modded out MoWah.  I guess to start there are two “channels” (Green / Blue) controlled by a 2 Knob Job.  The Blue channel has an expression input that overrides the knob when plugged in.  There are external knobs for Master Volume and Q, as well as the bass boost switch.  For the sweep range, I opted for a 6 way selector with 6 cap values to provide different sweeps.  Then for the Inductor, I also opted for a 6 way switch (yes, a 6 way switch) to swap out inductors.  (Too far?….Maybe….).  Yellow Fasel, Red Fasel, Electa Halo, Sabbadius “Soul”, Dunlop “Halo” (Clyde), and a Generic $5 indcutor round out the science experiment.

On a side note – I pirated one of the newer Dunlop Mini wahs for my espression pedal.  You can find them used on reverb for around $80 and you get the mechanically adjusted potentiometer and rack gear already done for you, as well as you get a red fasel – all for the price of the good wah shell on SmallBear.

Wow!  That is a crazy amount of options for a wah pedal!

LOL thanks guys, it’s probably too many options for a wah pedal, but I wanted to hear how all the inductors sounded without building 6 pedals.   For people I build wahs for, I can have them dial in exactly what they like and then build the wah with those values and parts.

That is an excellent test rig you have built.

    Thanks for sharing!

Hella nice job on such wildly versatile looking build. So is this basically the “brains” box for which an external expression pedal is the treadle for this mondo wah circuit? Or is this an elaborate cocked wah circuit with an expression pedal option?

@cybercow Thank you, sorry for the delayed reply.  The answer to your questions is “Yes”.  🙂

“Channel 1” is always a cocked wah, but “channel 2” give you the option of using it as a second cocked wah, or by using an expression pedal.  I have found over the years, that wahs….erode (for lack of a better word) and my theory is that some of that has to do with the large opening in the enclosure which allows moisture, dust, bugs, etc into the inner workings.  My idea here is that enclosing everything but the potentiometer in a normal pedal enclosure will prolong the integrity of the effect and protect the expensive parts.

I am currently using it as my wah, mostly on channel two with the expression pedal, but also switch to the cocked channel when i play Sultans of Swing 😉
