Having just 8 phasers in my stash I decided to build another Dr Phybes with some mods to make it different and attempt to verify or debunk some suggested mods found on various discussion boards.  Started thinking I wanted to add all sorts of bells and whistles but gradually slid into the basic build with a few value changes to “widen the sweep” and slow down the slowest rate.  Flushing the nonsense out of what I found in discussions I ended up changing R23, R25 and R26 to 3.3M, 560K and 120K to “widen the sweep”, and replacing C8 with a 33nf to slow down the rate.  All these got sockets installed so the stock bits could be swapped out after I was sure the basic effect functioned correctly and allow removing the mods if they didn’t work or just plain sucked.

    Here’s what we got:

    And the guts:

Compared to my previous Dr Phybes build (with Wilkie1’s 45/90 mod and my Depth mod) and a MadBean Nom-Nom I bought and repaired it is different.  The slow phase may be a touch slower and it kind of sounds like Dr Phybes cousin from Maine or Vermont – really not a huge difference.  Was it worth it?  I now have 9 working phasers with distinct personalities, yes.
