Years ago I bought a whole whack of boards and then didn’t get around to building them all. Not that I lost interest – just got on other tangents for awhile. (Building tube amps,)
One of my 1st pedals was a Marshall Bluesbreaker clone – 3 knobs and a different sound than the Tube Screamer design. I darkened that pedal up and really like it; used it a lot on gigs. But wanted a more versatile version with more sounds. This Blues Buster is it!
I mounted the Trim pot externally – and I really recommend that. The build notes say it makes it more able to tune in to the sound of different pickups. With Humbuckers and p90s the treble trim just gives you way more control over the highs. Barry has already beefed up the low end response in the circuit so with the trim and tone knobs I have a lot of tonal control. It sounds good with a Strat but needs a compressor in front of it to really scream. (IMHO. I have built 4 types of those so I can take my pick.)

I experimented with the clipping options and settled on the 2 leds on one side (as recommended) and put a BS170 mosfet in the middle of the 2 1n914s – with 3 1N914x in tandem on the other side. It is a bit quieter but I like the contrast in tones.
I haven’t gotten round to labelling the controls – may be when I get a silver sharpie 🙂
